Calcas – A series by Misha Bies Golas with Casa Atlântica
During a few days in the winter of 2024, we invited Misha Bies Golas to the Casa Atlântica workshop to intervene in a series of industrial stoneware pieces.
Based on a catalog of shapes from some of his latest works, Misha B. Golas used different graphic techniques and ceramic decals that allowed him to carry out some compositional experiments, in a quick and manual way, which are now translated into a set of unique pieces.
In each piece, we include a postcard painted by Misha, measuring 14×21 cm and created using the stencil technique painted with a roller and paper inks. We have also designed specific packaging for each piece with an illustration printed on its front.
This first series of CALCAS left the Casa Atlântica workshop in Redondela in June 2024; it is a very special limited edition with a run of 25 units, in which no two designs are alike.
Preliminary compositional studies are carried out following the shape catalog, the decal paper is cut, and then adhered to the previously fired piece. A second firing in the kiln fuses the decal onto the piece.
