Hand-painted stoneware tray
Hand-painted stoneware tray
Our new Sponge collection is inspired by different ceramic trays we found in antique markets along the northern coast of Portugal, which served as the starting point for creating this unique series. Are you ready to discover it?
In our new cups, bowls, and trays, we revive the ancient sponging technique, used in this coastal area where sea sponges were the magical tool for creating patterns on utilitarian ceramics.
The large-sized bowls with a plate or trays and bowls decorated with traditional triangles or “bicos” along their edges are perfect for mixing with plain tableware.
The material, high-resistance porcelain stoneware, reflects the spirit of the 1950s and the quality of materials used in the past. A tribute to folk art, folklore, the anonymous pieces we have collected over the years, and the creativity of the people who once made them.
