Atlantic Summer:
Uncommon Places That Inspire Us in Galicia

At Casa Atlântica, we value what has soul, its own rhythm, and a clear connection to the land. That’s why we want to share with you corners of Galicia that don’t appear in every guide, but have a special power: landscapes, memory, craftsmanship, community… Places that inspire us to create calmly and with attention.

Santa María de Oia
The monastery by the sea

A Cistercian monastery nestled between the ocean and the mountains, where mist and silence feel eternal. Ideal at sunset, it’s an almost spiritual pause from the expected.

A Mostra de Olería de Buño
Living clay

This summer event is not an exhibition: it’s an act of faith in the craft. Clay, fire, and ancestral skills are showcased in Buño, as if these trades could speak for themselves.

From Wednesday, July 31 to Sunday, August 3, 2025
Buño – Malpica de Bergantiños

Casa RIA
A space to reflect on new urbanism

It’s not a rural house nor a boutique: it’s the former health center renovated by David Chipperfield, now home to the RIA Foundation in Santiago de Compostela.

Since July 2024, it has hosted residencies, exhibitions, debates, and a canteen of traditional Galician cuisine led by Iago Pazos.

It is a public space that connects architecture, community, and landscape.

A Illa de Sálvora
Wild Atlantic

Part of the Atlantic Islands National Park, it’s an almost deserted island. A few visitors a day, no shops—just stone, sea, and memory. If you love the sea in its purest form, this place stays with you.

Accessible via authorized ferry operators or by private boat with permission from the National Park.

Museo do Mar de Galicia
Memory of the ocean

In Vigo, this museum is where you not only learn history—you feel the sea. Clean architecture hosts exhibitions on fishing, people, navigation, and territory.

Perfect for a grey day or for getting lost without hurry.

A Guarda and the mouth of the Miño
Our origin

Here the river overflows and merges with the Atlantic.
From Mount Santa Trega you can see Portugal, Galicia, and the ocean in a single view.

There is a well-preserved Celtic castro and an estuary declared a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA), part of the Natura 2000 network.

The Miño River, in its final kilometers, serves as a natural border between Spain and Portugal.

A village festival
The collective soul

In any Galician village in August, there’s surely a festival: orchestra, churrasco, dancing grandmothers and running children. It’s the liveliest, most generous Galicia—where the simple brings people together.

Shall we dance?

Bringing Galicia with you

Every product we design at Casa Atlântica is born from places like these: from what’s alive, slow, and soulful. This summer, we invite you to discover Galicia through that lens: calm, sensory, honest.
